Foreword to my BLOG

Foreword

This all started back around 2003, I received a hand-me-down book from a friend who read it and enjoyed it immensely thus he wanted to share the book with me. The book was titled, "Never Be Boring Again" by Doug Stevenson. Based on the cover, it looks like a book that would fall under the self-help or self-improvement category for working professionals that are seeking to work on his or her presentation or conversation skills. Perhaps this should be a good read to those that have day-to-day interactions with clients or customers and don't want to come off conveying an impression of being dull and lulling the audience to sleep. Any how enough jibber jabbering about this book. If you want to know more, go buy it from a bookstore, check it out from a library or find it on Amazon.

What I got out of this book was on chapter 5 or more precisely on page 64. Under sub-heading called "Story Source # 4: Quotes and Quote Books, I learned the following lesson which states, "if you read or hear a quote and it causes a visceral response - it makes you laugh out loud, stop and think, or immediately disagree - it will also cause a visceral response in your listeners." Those are the kinds of quotes you want to use - ones you haven't heard before.

Thus begins my quest to collect all quotes that I encounter from reading books, newspapers, music lyrics, watching tv, watching movies, and listening to interviews, just to name a few of my sources.

From that day in 2003, I have amassed quite a repository of word documents with quotes I have collected from over 100 sources or over 3 megabytes of text.

Therefore, I dedicate this blog to my cohort-mates at the MBA program I am enrolled in at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California. There are several of you, if you read this, who have laughed or found it shocking how I remember all these lines.

In this blog, I will identify a quote and add a creative writing from my mind on why I find this quote meaningful, perhaps powerful or at least thought provoking along with a experience of mine.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy this.
